Anastomosis Technique in Vascular Access Procedures Competition
Information
Date: Wednesday 24 April 2024
Time: 16:40 - 18:00
Location: Workshop room 2
Instructors: Nicholas Inston & Balázs Gasz
Partners: YourAnastomosis & Laminate Medical
This hands-on simulated workshop competition for arteriovenous fistula creation demonstrates the basics of anastomosis technique and provides a comprehensive understanding of anastomosis structure and potential technical pitfalls.
Attendees have the opportunity to practice and improve their skills using 3D printed, case-specific simulators presenting individual cases for the understanding of practical aspects of vascular anastomosis techniques in AVF.
The competition winner will be announced based on a personalised, predictive feedback, morphological assessment of each anastomosis, which is performed on a computer-generated, high-resolution, virtual 3D model to evaluate the lumen of the anastomosis. Results will be announced a few days after the completion of the workshop.
The winner will receive a complimentary CX 2025 registration, a small prize from YourAnastomosis and enrolment into the Grand Prix Competency. Coverage of the competition will be reported in the next issue of Renal Interventions.
Station 1: Anastomosis suturing on distal/radial AVF simulators
Station 2: Anastomosis suturing on proximal/brachial AVF simulators
Station 3: VasQ station with multiple tasks
- Sizing – sizing demonstration and its function on different-sized vessels
- Handling and demonstration of the device
- Simulation of VasQ procedure
Open to all surgeons of any experience level – suturing experience is required. Experienced surgeons can use the competition as a means to measure their anastomosis skills, lesser experienced surgeons will benefit from the additional hands-on opportunities.
