Ruby™ Coil

Penumbra introduced the Ruby™ Coil in 2013, followed by the launch of POD™ and Packing Coil in 2015. Ruby Coil, POD, and Packing Coil are large-volume coils designed for embolization of the peripheral arterial and venous systems. Ruby Coil, POD, and Packing Coil work in conjunction to help facilitate simplified and efficient embolization procedures. Penumbra’s LANTERN™ Delivery Microcatheter integrates a highly trackable 2.6 F microcatheter with a high-flow lumen to facilitate confident delivery of Ruby Coil, POD, and Packing Coils even in tortuous anatomy. Ruby Coil is a large-volume coil that can be delivered through LANTERN, a high-flow microcatheter. Indicated for arterial and venous embolization in the peripheral vasculature, Ruby Coil’s characteristic softness and 3D complex shape is designed to allow the coil to densely pack aneurysms and vessels in a variety of clinical applications. Ruby Coil allows physicians to use longer and larger volume coils, potentially reducing procedural time and total number of devices required. Ruby Coil has two softness levels, Standard and Soft, and can be repositioned to achieve ideal placement. POD is a large volume coil designed to simplify high-flow vessel sacrifice. The distal tip of the device is stiffer, helping the coil to anchor. Proximally, the coil becomes softer, allowing the device to densely pack behind the anchor segment. Like Ruby Coil and Packing Coil, POD can be delivered through the LANTERN high-flow microcatheter. Packing Coil is a soft, shapeless, large volume coil designed to conform to a variety of vessel sizes. Packing Coil packs densely behind a POD or Ruby Coil backstop and is available in 5 cm, 15 cm, 30 cm, 45 cm, and 60 cm length options. Like Ruby Coil and POD, Packing Coil can be delivered through the LANTERN high-flow microcatheter.
